What is a Newborn Lifestyle session?

Lifestyle Newborn sessions are a great way to capture your babe’s welcome into the family while also being relaxed in a safe and comfortable environment. A perfect opportunity to incorporate pets or siblings as well. Sessions are held in-home to shoot the natural bond and interaction you have with your newborn and family. Whether that means bathing, feeding and snuggling your baby, every moment is worthy of a memory. Allowing me into your home is truly an honor and I cannot wait to meet your new addition. These sessions are best held within the first two weeks of your little one being home.

Preparation
*How you can prepare yourself and your home*
- Feed your little one right before our session to ensure a sleepy and happy baby.
- Plan the areas you will want to use, put away unwanted clutter in those areas. Typical areas used include living room, bedroom, nursing room or yard if the season allows.
- If you have older kiddos a nap and snack beforehand will always help with mood and cooperation.
- Open up any blinds so the area is nice and bright in every area you plan to use for great lighting as that will be key.

STYLING

Moms ~ are encouraged to wear anything they feel comfortable and beautiful in, a nice flowy maxi dress or gown can look cozy and elegant. I will bring along a small selection of different small throws/textures you are welcome to incorporate into your images. I encourage you to incorporate any family items or keepsakes into the images or your environment to personalize your gallery as much as possible. I will be in touch with you the day prior as well as the morning of for confirmation but please always feel free to reach out and touch base at any point in time.

Dads ~ a comfortable and neutral colored button up and some khaki pants or jeans will look best with any wardrobe choices for mom, baby and kiddos. Think lighter tones such as beige, white, sage green. If a button up shirt is a bit too warm a nice t shirt can always do the trick too! Remember these are meant to feel comfy and casual as that represents your life at home!

Babies ~ a cute little onesie, overall, or bare with a wrap in is best for your little one. If outfit changes are planned make sure that your home is just a few degrees warmer than usual to keep your little one as comfortable and cozy as possible during the session. Sometimes a quick snack or change is needed and that will always be welcome as the goal is to keep your baby as happy and comfortable as possible!

Sibling ~ Along side dad, we want a nice and neutral palette for any siblings so that we can create a cohesive look with the whole family. A cute romper, simple pants and t shirt or a cute gown will always work. Usually these in-home sessions are best when the family is barefoot so no need to worry about shoes!
